Plaine and Son Spin Room 2009- 2010

Plaine and Son is once again bringing you the opportunity to train all year round. Our second floor houses a great spin studio, complete with Surround Sound, and changing rooms.

Best of all – There is no Charge to Spin Here! It’s Free

We do have some rules:
1. You must bring your own bike, trainer, block and Mat.
2. Everything must be labeled with your name
3. We are not responsible for theft of items, however store is locked and monitored at all times, and we have never had an incident.
4. A simple information sheet must be filled out and kept on file.

Here is a copy of the informational email that was sent out:

The Plaine and son spin room will be open once again this year! We plan to start classes Dec. 1st. I am looking for people who might want to run classes, ie be the instructor. If you do you will get hooked up with store perks as follows, instructor discount at store, free service on bike now thru May 2010, A free Plaine and son water bottle, and a Specialized Cycling Jersey. If your interested I am looking for the following times to be filled. Monday thru Friday classes 6:30 - 7:30, Saturday am 10am- ?, and Sunday 12-?. We could also try daytime week classes if there was interest.
If your interested in spinning, but not instructing, the deal will be, bring your bike, trainer, block, and mat, and have fun. There will be no cost for anything! We just want you to come and have a good time.

We would like people to sign up for spin...all you have to do is stop into the store, and fill out a form. Very basic, and helps us to keep track who is up there.

Spin will last Dec. 1- March 1

Steve, our repair manager asked me to send out a blog to remind you that our repair shop is open year round for Bike and Ski Repair. Now is a great time to get your bike serviced before you store it for the winter. It is also a great time to get your skis waxed and sharpend for the upcoming season.
We are prepared to have items done with a 24 hour turn around, and tuned to percision.

Stop in and drop off your favorite recreational, goods, and let us give them the top treatment.

Ride 4 Love

today Buck and Heather suited up the plaine and son rig and headed up to offer tech support at the ride for love. Thia was our second year promoting this event, and we were very excited that the number of riders had almost doubled from last year. This ride is cool, because it is 100 % a fund raiser, and offers riders the option of 75, 50, 25, or 10 mile routes. Best thing is after there was lunch from Moes! high five. We fixed a bunch of bikes and had a great time! hope to see you next year!

Look! 1/2 the floor is painted! We are using black paint, and when we put it on, it dries and almost looks like rubber. You need to come over and check it out. When we put the merchandise back on the new floor it really makes it pop! This store is Hot!

We are painting the other half of the store tonight, and we are excited to see it come togather.

the title of this post says it all, however the picture finishs it up. Woman cyclists are not just out to hang with there men, and look good from behind. We demand a bike that fits, and looks cool too. We want comfort and performance, lets face it woman can be downright picky and hard to please.
Not in this case.

I am perfect for the Specialized trail crew in so many ways! Not only am I a super freak who loves my bike, but I promote cycling to everyone I come in contact with. I have hands down influenced the community in the upstate NY area, by creating a trail network for people to ride, hosting and promoting mtb and road events, hosting trail building, and skill clinics, and parties. I organize pub crawls, helmet safety checks, basic bike repair clinics, and womans only rides. I Race hard, and always remember to have fun. I can school the boys on log rides, and technical trails. I used to ride for Specialized and many others as an ultra endurance freak. I have so called drank the water.I have two blogs that I update daily, one for my own riding lifestyle, and the other for the bike store I manage in Schenectady. I have an email list of over 1200 names that I send out emails to of rides, and such going on in the area. I used to be married to Wiley Mosley, old Specialized east coast demo driver, now Texan. I am insane, and fun, and crazy. You would be nuts not to let me ride a Stumpy!@!@!

okay, first your looking at just a portion of our store. So, I pulled this beautiful Specialized Dolce comp out of the lineup to give it its time deserved on our blog. My first bike was a Specialized Dolce. Money was tight, but I wanted a bike that fit me right, was sized for a woman, and had good components that would last. I also wanted it to be sweet looking. Mine was blue, and I loved it. I will never forget with a new bike, that first ride. When you finally get the bike home to your street in your town, and get your new helmet out, fill your bottles, and get ready to ride. Well my first ride on my Dolce was about 7 miles, but I remember coming home, being so excited that I finally had a bike that fit. The best part, I remember so clearly, was the seat felt great. It was like the bike was made for me. This bike inspired my love for road riding, finally I could ride longer than 5 miles, and my wrists, butt and neck, felt great. The Dolce is the bike for the woman rider who does not want limitations. You can ride fast, you can ride strong, you can ride comfortable. There is such a thing as a bike designed for a woman. The best thing is, you can look good at the same time.

Mr. Plaine is one serious man. One of the most hands on store owners I have ever meant. I true worker, who is not afraid to get dirty. So, here is is, installing our new Rock Garden on the wall. This is going to be super cool. I should also tell you that he has been out doing trail work with me before, he has been out cleaning up trash in the woods, he has been out moving furniture and ski equipment, and all with a huge smile on his face. Mr. Plaine is not a lazy man.

Service Manager Steve

here is Steve. He is in charge of our service department. Steve came to us, after years of working as a car mechanic. We all know the story Seabiscut, and if you know some history in that story you would know how closley cars and bicycles relate, mechanics wise. So..I am telling you this, because many ask, where did steve learn, where did he come from. he is self taught on bikes, and his skills have developed over the years, he has a background in auto mechanics.

Besides from bike reapir, Stcve also is our head ski technician. Thi sjob required a bit more trainning, since he had no background, so last year we shipped him off to Ski school. He came back telling us what to do. Next time your here, be sure to stop back and say Hi to Steve. We think he's pretty cool.

This is a 2010 Specialized Roubaix Expert. The picture may not do this bike justice, (I think it does), but up close you will see a super sweet Specialized carbon frame, with vibration dampening system, aero dish Roval wheel set, Shimano Ultegra Components, all centered around the BG Fit theory created by Specialized which almost guarantees rider comfort on the bike. Why would you look any further? I am not feeding you a bunch of bull, I have personally bought 3 of these bikes so far. I have outfitted other riders in the area on too many of these bikes to count. When good friends of mine come to me, looking for a bike, We start here. The roubaix gives you the best of both worlds, speed and performance. My father has one of these, My good friend Jen has one of these. Sure this blog is not going to convince you to come out and get one, but I hope it convinces you to at least come out and ride one. Just test it, even if your not looking for a new bike. But be careful, and don't say I didn't warn you, because everyone has room in the house for one of these.

We all know Specialized Has the coolest bikes. They make really sexy product, and everytime I see a Specialized bike, componet or accesory, I want it. The 2009 Fall / winter clothing line is no exception. I might be a little biased on my reviews of their shorts, jerseys, jackets, gloves and booties, possibly because almost every garmet I own is made by Specialized. There cycling clothing is not the cheapest out there, but I know better than anyone, you get what you pay for. Some of my specialized gear has been around for years. They are constantly innovating as cycling changes, for example, the trend in past years has been endurance cycling, and now they have a short that is designed for longer rides, more padding, more comfort, less bulk, fantastic! The jacket I am in here, is one of my favs..it is form fitting, warm, and repels rain, sleet snow. I wear this 90% of the time during winter bikes, skis, snowshoes, you name it. Their tights, are another, that I use for multiple sports, running, cycling, skiing..ect. Stop in chek this stuff out, and take advantage of the 10% off while you can...just mention you read our blog. We just unpacked this, so we have complete size runs..need I say more?

Check these babies out! I was thinking as I went over to the big display this morning.."wow" thats allot of lids..and was not too excited, since they appeared the same from 2009. But..when I took one out of the box and began to play with it..I saw the big updates..a new profit dial on the back. I love this. The old system was okay, but this new dial goves you a nice tight fit, with no helemt bob! Perfect! I made Ariel be my model...since we wanted to show you what i mean. At $40 and up, you have got to get one of these.
